Lady Gaga scoops MTV Europe awards trio

Lady Gaga has been awarded three prizes at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid, these included best female and best song for her massive hit Bad Romance. Other winners on the night also included Katy Perry and Justin Bieber, the night was dominated by US stars. Despite numerous UK artists including Plan B, Alexandra Burke and Muse receiving nominations, not of them succeeded in converting them to awards. The awards ceremony which was host by Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has been regarded as a great success. On the night, the host made 13 costume changes and one of her outfits included a costume shaped like a giant Spanish ham. Unfortunately Lady Gaga was not in the Spanish capital to collect the award due to her being away working in Hungary, she appeared at the ceremony via video link. Katy Perry arrived at the awards with her new husband Russell Brand and she won the award for best video for California Gurls. This was the first public appearance of the couple after they recently got married in India just two weeks ago. Other award winners included best hip hop act for Eminem, best alternative act for Paramore and best new act for Kesha. Numerous live performances were put on at the awards ceremony, these included Colombian star Shakira, rock veterans Bon Jovi and Rihanna, currently number one in the UK singles chart.
