Rihanna gets fourth UK number one single

The pop star singer Rihanna has gained her fourth UK number one with her single Only Girl in the World. This reached the top of the charts on Sunday, knocking Cheryl Cole, the X Factor judge, off the number one spot. Although Cheryl Cole has no major reason to be upset, her single may have been knocked off the top spot but she can still celebrate after new solo album Messy Little Raindrops took pole position in this weeks album charts. The success of Cheryl Cole does not reflect that of fellow Girls Aloud Nadine Coyle. Nadines first solo release failed to enter the top 20 and reached just number 26. The fantastic achievement of Rihannas follows her previous success in the UK. Her latest singles triumph follows that of Umbrella in 2007; Take a Bow in 2008 and Run This Town last year. The Barbados born star is also set to perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid, where she is in the running for the best song, best female and best pop prizes. Rhianna has also had another major hit with the rapper Eminem, the song Love the Way You Lie is up for two accolades at the MTV music awards. Rhianna recently performed on the hit television show X Factor and was well received by the majority of viewers.
