Trade Descriptions Act 1972

Occasionally amendments are made to certain Acts that have been created within Parliament. The changes that are made may mean that certain regulations within the Act are changed or the whole Act may be changed completely. The Trade Descriptions Act has generally stayed the same throughout time and the main purpose of the Act has continued to revolve around protecting consumers. The Trade Descriptions Act generally stipulates certain regulations that traders must adhere to. For example the Act includes details on the descriptions of products and the prices of products. Traders who do not satisfy the regulations within the Act may face prosecution or be imposed with fines.

The Act was originally introduced in 1968 and therefore there was not any changes made in 1972. The Act continued to hold the main purpose of protecting consumers and providing regulations that actors must operate in line with.
