UK Visa

Persons who wish to enter the UK from outside of the European Union will require a visa. The UK Border Agency is responsible for monitoring visas within the UK, individuals who hold a passport from a country within the European Union but they are travelling from outside the EU will not require a visa. A visa document will be issued by the UK Border Agency and this will provide an individual permission to travel or enter the UK. The permission which is provided by the agency is known as entry clearance.

There are four different types of entry clearance and which is one is provided depends on the individual circumstances. The first type is a visa which is required by citizens from outside of the European Economic Area. The second entry permission is an entry certificate which is issued to the non-visa nationals. There is also an EEA family permit which is provided to national who are the family members of EEA nationals. The final entry permit is an exempt vignette for people, these individuals are exempt from visa legislations under the Immigration Act 1971.

For people who want a long term visa individuals may be required to secure a certain type of visa. These are assessed using a points based system, the kind of points used will depend upon the employment which the person is in or the basis of which the entrance is being gained. The different point based systems are based on general migrants, investors, entrepreneur, post study work, skilled worker, temporary worker, youth mobility scheme or general and child scheme.

In order to gain a student visa an applicant will have to prove numerous differentthings. One of the main matters which must be proven before a student visa is granted is that they hold the finances to fund themselves through an educational course and also that they have the funds to live off for the duration of this course. This is highly important as one of the rules of a student visa is that the internationals who hold them can not enter full time employment, although they can have a part time job but this must not exceed sixteen hours per week.

As well as requiring the finances to fund the course and living costs an applicant
must also prove that they have been offered a place on a course at an educational
practice within the UK. This offer will be fully checked and the educational
documents which have been provided in order to secure the place will also be checked to ensure they are legitimate.
