The Kitchin, opened in 2006 by high flying chef Tom

The Kitchin, opened in 2006 by high flying chef Tom Kitchin and his wife Michaela, is located in
Commercial Quay on Leiths waterfront and boasts a Michelin star, only the third restaurant in
Edinburgh to do so. Whilst bookings need to be made well in advance as the Kitchin is one of the
citys most renowned and well loved restaurants, this modern British cuisine that is subtly
influenced by French cooking techniques offers fine Scottish produce in a relaxed and welcoming
environment.

The Kitchin has won countless awards since its opening, recently being awarded Best in Scotland
at the UKs National Restaurant Awards 2009. Food is not the Kitchins only forte as The AA Wine
Award was given to the restaurant in 2009 and it has featured on the Notable Wine List from 2009
to 2010.

The philosophy and ethos of the Kitchin is known as from nature to plate, with all ingredients
sourced for the restaurant being of the highest standard. Produce is seasonal and delivered daily
to the restaurant, ensuring fresh, delicious foods throughout the year. Tom Kitchin offers a set
lunch menu, tasting and an a la carte menu, all on which local produce is features prominently. The
choice of desserts is truly fantastic with ice creams, sorbets and cheeses available alongside such
classics as the Chocolate torte and light, fruity dishes such as Gratin of Figs and Blackberries.

In terms of decor, the restaurant has a very intimate and relaxed vibe, with soft lighting and silver
silk patterned wallpaper. The deep brown polished floor, the dark wood tables, fresh flowers and
candles only add to the rustic, warm feel. An open window allows diners to watch Tom Kitchin and
his team at work in the comfortable surroundings. Also, disabled access is excellent facilities for
wheelchair users.
