Offering a wide range of fine Bangladeshi, Indian, Nepali and Thai cuisine, Britannia Spice is an
internationally acclaimed restaurant that opened in Edinburgh in 2000. Best Restaurant in Scotland
for both BIBA and the British Curry Awards in 2006 are just two of many.

The restaurant was founded by Dr Wali Uddin and Ranil Saparamadu and has since won
international praise for its exotic menus. With all the classic Indian dishes available, Britannia Spice
also boasts Bangladeshi dishes such as the Macch Torkari, a fresh water fish served in a medium
hot. Himalayan dishes include the Kathmandu Murgh; tender pieces of marinated chicken with a
source full of fresh herbs, spring onions, ginger and garlic. Thai dishes include the ever popular
Geang Keow Wan. Along with an extensive list of Eastern beers, lagers, wines and spirits, the
Britannia Spice is the perfect curry evening out.

Converted from an old whiskey bond at the entrance to the former docklands at Leith, the
Britannia Spice is just a stones throw from where the Royal Yacht Britannia is berthed. The
restaurants interior is exciting and reflects the sites nautical heritage; airy and light during the day;
intimate and soft at night. The designer, Ashad Alam, has won international acclaim for his work on
the dcor.

Charity events, functions, parties and live music and dance are all part of the ethos at the Britannia
Spice, specifically at night. Large groups are comfortably accommodated whilst smaller parties are
still made to feel more than welcome. The restaurant is open all year round from noon until 2pm
and 5pm until 11.45pm Monday to Saturday although Sundays the restaurant only opens in the
evening.
